Cassilis, 5 Jacks Road

Jacks Road Cassilis

Sold for $72,000

Listing Number: BRN2455
About this listing
Here is an opportunity to purchase a small part of the Cassilis valley west of swifts creek with a large amount of history. First time offered in over thirty seven years this property has the old gold mine located on it known as the 'Rose of Australia' Reference to this is in the book, 'Time to remember' by K.McD. Fairweather. It was at one point a thriving and productive enterprise and was considered to be a medium sized mine of the day.

Being approximately 40 acres in total area the property is quite steep in places and has views from the top of the ridge. There is flat land in the bottom of the valley which is part of the road easement held by a 99 year lease. There is an old house site scarfed in next to the opening of the mine.

In 1991 a small building of stone and timber which incorporates an old bus was built below the original earthworks and mine site. It was originally lived in over a number of years. This could be a good starting base for someone wanting a getaway for any recreation purpose.

During the early 90s the Mt Markey Winery was built on the main road at the bottom of the valley close to where Jacks Road meets Cassilis Road.

There are no services to the property such as power or phone.
